Taken a few weeks before Hurricane Katrina made landfall, on August 29, 2005, where the eastern edge of the eye of the storm passed over this area, completely wiping out the surrounding area and completely destroying this bridge. This CSX manifest train is heading westbound towards New Orleans, La. crossing the Bay St. Louis Bridge which spans The Bay of Bay St. Louis, Miss. When standing farther back from the right-of-way, you can see the entire train spanning the three-mile-long bridge over the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Standing feet from where Jimmy Buffett, a fellow alumni of the University of Southern Mississippi, would use one of the destroyed buildings and would feature the rebuilt bridge for his music video "Bama Breeze" the CSX train waits for clearance to proceed westward towards the Big Easy.
